The Hunger Games

Suzanne Collins' best-selling novel has earned a global following, sold more than 23 million copies in the United States alone, and has spent more than 3 years on the New York Times bestseller list.  The film adaptation is one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of 2012 and has earned critical raves as well as box-office success.

Set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future in the nation of Panem, where boys and girls aged 12–18 must participate in the Hunger Games, a televised annual event in which the "tributes" are required to fight to the death, the story follows Katniss Everdeen's battle to for survival after volunteering to take her younger sister's place in the games.
