Montgomery native Octavia Spencer received an Academy Award AND a standing ovation last night for her role as Minny Jackson in "The Help."
Spencer was the obvious choice to play the scene-stealing Minny because her friend, author Kathryn Stockett, based the character of Minny on her. And the rest, as they say, is history.
